Better-than-Bouillon safety question

Hello. Not sure if this “deserves” it’s own thread, but…. I have 2 jars of Better-than-Bouillon in the fridge (which I use when I make quinoa). The best-used-by dates passed months ago. Can I still use the product safely, as long as their no signs of mold and it smells/looks fine? I assume this is one of those situations where the manufacturer is super conservative w/ best-used-by dates?

Are they the full sodium versions? Those things have a lot of salt in them, which is a great preservative.

But yeah, if there’s no mold or obvious sign of going off, then I would happily eat it. For reference, beyond infant formula, there aren’t strict regulations around product dating.

I usually always defer to the smell/taste/look test and use the best-by dates as a very loose guide.

BTB ftw forever. That stuff is incredible. I think it was the product that convinced me to get my Tiger water boiler. Stock on demand! When I don’t have my Chinese chicken stock on hand I just use a teeny bit of BTB and Lee Kum Kee mushroom bouillon powder.

I’m not qualified to say whether it’s safe or not, but I can say that I have used Better Than Bouillon well past its best-by date without issue.

FWIW, best-by / use-by dates are not about product safety (link EDIT: oops, did not see this link was already shared by @joe ). I typically go by how the food looks/smells.
