Significant Dining Companion, the dog, and I are all going to Big Bear for the weekend. Any recommendations for outside meals? Breakfast/lunch/dinner are gratefully accepted and we will be there for three day.
I’m allergic to shellfish, and the two of us don’t eat a lot of bread and cheese - so a hamburger is good, pizza is not likely. I read about Himalayan which seems promising. I’m assuming there will be a lot of burger places, and I’d like to go to one, not have 27 meals from different burger places.
I’m back! I had realistic expectations of quality of food on a mountain, in a resort town. Here’s my two cents:
We ate (and really enjoyed!) Himalayan. It’s a large indoor restaurant with a sizable patio in back. We shared one order of
Veg samosas
Veg paukada
Thali with garlic chicken
We drank wate, and food after tax, before tip was just under $40. It was very good, I thought, and if there was a place serving this level of Indian/Nepalese near me, it would quickly become one of my regular spots. My deepest admiration for serving us the samosas straight from the fryer. Hot and delicious! The garlic chicken was underflavored, and dry - the naan that came with the thali (not the garlic naan) was hot but not blistering.
We ate dinner another night at Fire Rock Burgers and Brewery MENU LINKED
We each got burgers but we were the most interested in the accompanying fries and zucchini sticks.
The zucchini was better! And while we were there we could see some of their french fries came out paler than we like. In general, this place was fine, however, we both wished the entrees and sides were hotter. The outdoor seating is tucked along a long walkway so it lacks people watching. Ah well, the food was decent and before tip came in under $45.
