Birria at El Pollo Loco?

I posted this on another site but got no responses after two days. I know El Pollo Loco has locations in CA, NV, AZ & TX, so I thought I’d try here too.

We’ve had El Pollo Loco chicken a number of times over the years and usually find it OK, though sometimes overcooked. They’re now promoting Birria (which I guess they do periodically) and I’m wondering if it’s worth a try.

I’ve gotten responses here before saying ‘just get some’ but hopefully I’ll also get some reasonable opinions. It’s beef, not goat, and they offer tacos, burritos, and quesadillas. I’d think it’s not great, but which item would give it its best showcase or which do they do ‘best’?

I see the consumé they serve with it and it seems unusually thick and viscous to me.

The review I linked to says it’s thin, more of a spiced oil than broth.
