you can order whole cakes from quarter sheets off their website. their slab cake (any flavor) is the best cake i’ve ever had

Ordered a carrot cake from Sqirl for a birthday last year. It was pretty subtle (read not too sweet) and got a lot of compliments.

Depends on what type of cake you’re looking for (noting your name is nottoosweet). Republique’s salted caramel chocolate cake is very rich and very good. Gjusta also makes an excellent carrot cake. For more traditional birthday cakes, ie definitely sweet, I like Susiecakes (multiple locations) and Top Tier Cakes, on Pico in West LA.

100% this. Flouring is the best- taste most importantly, but the designs too. I’ve tried them all but my favorite flavors are the black sesame, cookies n cream, lavender lemon, passion fruit, and strawberry. Her ccc is really good so add a couple to your order.
I’m in the minority when it comes to Quarter Sheets’ slab cakes (and ccc) where I’m really not a fan. Pizza is great though for sure.

Not a fan of their tres leches… way too dry and doesn’t taste any better than what you’d get at Whole Foods. Chocolate salted caramel is my choice when it comes to Republique’s cakes but I know it can be too rich for many. Flouring is the way to go!

It’s perfect. She uses Rooted Fare’s black sesane crunch butter so you have the good textures. Definitely not too sweet but note that I’m not the typical Asian American who prefers not too sweet Asian desserts. I actually dislike Asian cakes.
