Someone was raving to me about it. Can’t find anything here - but is a little hard to search because of the David Chang or Chang’s Garden references.

it’s good, it’s pricey, but it’s refined. Think of it like Bistro Na - some decent overlap in food.

Follow up to my post from three years ago. This time we had a whole family gathering here, so it was much more representative of the restaurant’s menu.
Everyone who goes to Chang’an orders their Peking Duck. It costs $398. And there’s a limit of one duck per party. Now $398 sounds like a lot to pay for a duck. And it is. But it does come with a flaming duck sideshow.
In addition, the duck is prepared two ways–regular, and smoked in a glass container.
The result is a beautiful, delicious duck. But not worth $398.
Next best dishes were the short ribs and the beef tongue.
Whole scallops were also very good.
Crystal prawn noodles and fried rice.
Jellyfish salad
Chinese vegetables
Assorted desserts
With Array 36 also opening in Tustin, I don’t see any reason to go to Chang’an unless they drop their prices.

I believe the base price of the duck is $138… the $398 is with caviar. Agree though that the level of execution is quite high! Certain dishes are relatively good value IMO, but a lot of the menu is definitely exorbitant.

Actually I’m surprised they’ve held it at $398 for 3 years.
