Chartreuse

I don’t have actual plans on paper to go, but yes, I fully intend to go visit Voiron and see everything Chartreuse-related that is open to the public. (The monastery itself is not open to the public.) I think it would be most fun to pair it with Les Fetes de la Chartreuse, so maybe May 2028, as I don’t think I can swing May 2027.

How was the meal? And how was the Chartreuse? Anything new on the Chartreuse menu?

For verte VEP, I saw a bottle at The Wolves in DTLA when we were there (and they have an entire page of Chartreuse cocktails). Pasjoli would be very likely to have it as well, but $$$

Maybe we should split off a Charter thread? What’s everyone’s favorite chartreuse cocktail

Tempting the thread splitting gods…

Here’s part of the haul from the visit to the Caves:

The 147 cuvée is available only in Voiron.

We absolutely should have a Chartreuse thread. I’ve been waiting for @robert to split this one off.

This is such a great haul!

There are a few stores where 147 is available in the US (e.g. Rare Collects in Miami), though I’m guessing at much higher prices than what you get in Voiron. We just recently picked up a bottle. :upside_down_face: Do you mind sharing what they ask for a bottle at the Caves? In the US, retailers are asking $450 - $550.

I think it was around 70 or 80 € at the time.

Thank you! I had no idea Petit Trois had such a strong collection of Chartreuse.

They do have vintages but historically have not made it easy to know what vintage you are drinking. Up until recently, you had to add 1084 to the first three digits of the serial number. (So if the serial number was L929141, you’d add 1084 to 929 and that would give you the year of production.) I think as of recently they just simply print the production year on the label, so no more need for math. This all applied to standard Chartreuse, not totally sure if it was also applicable to VEP.

Regardless, the vintage definitely makes a big difference! I just recently did a vertical tasting of both yellow and green, tasting 2022, 2023, and 2024 vintages. The differences were stark.
