Exactly… “especially given the amount of mislabeling and illegal trade.” We can delude ourselves into believing that what we’re eating is somehow better or more sustainably harvested or whatever, but when you’re talking this much money, the urge to cut corners and skirt regulations is hard to ignore. If we really cared about saving the oceans, I’d suggest we stop eating vanity foods and glamorizing things like bluefin, king crab, etc. bc that ultimately drives overconsumption, no?
It’s been a week since I had 2 AYCE sushi lunches and I regretted eating so many of them despite my enjoyment of them.
I was aiming to eat enough so I don’t need to eat for the whole day, but I was disappointed with the first place I went to. The second place the day after was much better in comparison, though I’m noticing side effects to my health as of today.
Now I feel guilty for prioritizing “value” over sustainability which I didn’t think about at the time.
I was so preoccupied with whether or not I could, I didn’t stop to think whether I should (twice).
Just curious - what type of side effects ?
You’re deciding what food people should post on FTC?
I felt my heart beats in my arms, without touching them.
I have noticed this whenever I ate too much, so I am more conscious in overeating.
I came back from my Vietnam trip, and I weighed less than what I weighed before my two week trip! I don’t overeat anymore.
I have avoided my temptations to get “my money’s worth” from AYCE buffets and I have started to make my own meals.
