Last week we ordered the last of Chef LQ’s classic cassoulet for this year, with tarbais bean, confit duck legs, French sausage and confit pork belly. It was comfort food at its best.
Their web site also sells other items.
We bought some Marron Glace (candied chestnuts), some rajas and creamy cheese tamales and some shrimp empanadas.
According to their web site, the chestnuts were cooked for a long time in vanilla and syrup, are chewy and sweet, just like a candy.
The 1/4" thin tamales wrapped in banana leaves reheated beautifully in the microwave and is additive.
We reheated the shrimp empanadas in my toaster over. By themselves, the shrimp empanadas are delicious. Adding the included spicy sauce make the empanadas taste ever better.
Here are some before and after photos of the banana leaf wrapped tamales. The tamales is wrapped in aluminum foil before the picture was taken.
It’s not the corn husk wrapped ones. Can someone please help identify it’s probable origin? Is it French? Chef LQ is French.
