that crust is pretty darn good. So rich and flaky.
Yeah, we like that dish too. But we like the trotters so much, we usually order the assorted plate for our appetizer.

That is a must for me as well
So many dishes at Chi Spacca are musts that I"d need two or three meals to order them all. Or two or three stomachs.
what are some of your favs?
Skimming the current menu, focaccia di Recco, whatever salumi, burrata, any lamb dish, octopus, squid, shepherd’s pie, tomahawk chop, whatever vegetables, butterscotch budino.
I love that chicken too
You should give the lamb shoulder at the Barish a try. It’s rolled into a roulade and slow roasted to a rosy pink hue. Delicious.
spacca caesar, anchovy & butter, and porchetta fredda
What about their bistecca drippings? I love those bistecca trimmings.
I’m sure this must’ve been mentioned above, but I’m too lazy to look… Outdoor seating available?
Yes they have tables set up on Melrose. I DO NOT recommend as the traffic noise on Melrose is really bad.
i’ve been loading up my grilled pork with fennel pollen (shoutout Epicurus) after having their chop… tomorrow 2 rib slabs are getting a honey / fennel finish… totally agree on the pie as well.
The “piazza” seating behind the building was delightful but do they still have that?
I could’ve sworn that I had read elsewhere (I guess in another thread?) that they were getting rid of that when indoor dining had come back.
If I’m feeling sufficiently motivated, I’ll call to ask. I’m assuming @tailbacku would’ve seen seating behind the restaurant, but I’ve never been, so I don’t know if that would’ve been visible or not from the inside.
I did not see the piazza in the back but I thought that was just for the pizzaria and OM?
the piazza is still there but it was never for chi spacca.
Yeah, at one time you could order from Chi Spacca in the “piazza,” we did. Too bad that’s gone.
Was the choice just Pizzeria or Osteria? When we were there on April 1 I thought it was all three, but didn’t pay that much attention since we wanted the Osteria menu.
back in the good ol’ days when indoor dining was still banned and they were doing the “piazza mozza” concept, you could order from all three restaurants. there was a pizza menu too that I didn’t get a picture of.
This was my absolute highlight of the pandemic. Even better than the traffic abatement.
