Where do you go to eat your feelings?
It’s Furaibo for me.

Langers
Ruben’s Tacos (cemita w/ milensa, please).
Boiled pork dumplings at Northern Cafe (West LA).
George’s in Boyle Heights for a burger
You Kitchen for big mouth pocket
DX Lab for sweet and strange noodles
When I’m beyond repair and just need to sit and eat by myself: Houston’s for a burger at the bar
Chinollo hands down. Just found a Jamaican restaurant, Karuba’s Yardy Kitchen, that fits the bill. Too bad it’s a chore to get there.
Ramen. Tsujita Annex if I really need to eat a liquid pig.
mcds fof
As of late, HotBox’s Turkey Cheese burger. It’s juicy and delicious and just perfect… Love the Onion rings as well.
Maple bar, chocolate bar, ham cheese jalapeño croissants, apple fritter, chocolate milk. Not necessary all of them. Any Cambodian family donut shop would do.
Mac and cheese. Doesn’t have to be roux>beschamel>panko on top. A quick stovetop mac and cheese and I am happy.
HK Cafe food. Baked pork chop rice, baked seafood rice, one plate rice dish, macaroni soup, sandwiches, etc.
You forgot the pasta bolognese/meat sauce spaghetti and the red bean ice.
Saturday paella from La Espanola. Preferably shoveled into my mouth directly from its styrofoam box lol.
You gotta try George’s chilli cheese fries. Might be the best chili cheese fries I ever had.
I also love George’s and all the other like places across Southern California. Breakfast burritos, burgers, chilli, all of it makes me happy.
Some of you guys might not realize this but be grateful for things like breakfast burritos, burgers, donut shops, Mexican/Asian food, teriyaki chicken bowls, good produce, Mexican/Asian supermarkets with the variety of produce/meat/seafood, because most of the country does not have it this good as Southern California.
Oh yeah I love me some basic meat sauce over spaghetti or even rice.
I love all the drinks too red bean ice, lemon tea, milk tea, ovaltine/horlicks, half tea half coffee
Cheeseburger at Nick’s in Redlands. I grew up there, and this was my favorite burger growing up. I remember feeling the need to stop there a few years ago before seeing my dad in the hospital a few days before he passed.
Furaibo is an excellent choice!
Pho 54 garden grove
In n out / the hat pastrami burger
What do you like there? Been years and years…
Sugarfish, Prime Pizza, McD, InO
I’m so sorry for your loss.
The Tarzan Pack extra spicy with extra house dressing. It’s the half tebasaki chicken plate with rice and salad. I also love their sausage fried rice. They’ve been my go-to for the 22 years I’ve lived in the South Bay.
What is your go-to for to-go there? I have (gasp!) never been (hangs head in embarrassment).
Forgot to mention in my first post that mom-and-pop Japanese (like Kaido or the re-imagined Sawtelle Tempura House) is also def comfort food. I didn’t make it out to Kaido when the moved to Westwood (and very sad that I didn’t b/c I just read that they’ve permanently closed).
