Corazon at the Santa Barbara Public Market

Some of my favorite bites on the planet. The Sal de Mar tostado-seasonal sashimi quality fish with watermelon, avocado, cucumber, fresh Chile and pomegranate with hibiscus aguachile. Tia Juana taco with shrimp, octopus avocado, peanut arbol salsa and pickled onions. The Norteno with grilled skirt steak, guacamole, beans and salsa mugrosa (definitely part of my last meal) and a quesa Birria with short ribs, cheese, salsa and cilantro.

Stopped in Santa Barbara both way on our trip to San Jose a few months ago. On the way there we stopped at Corazon and had a fantastic meal. The only thing we didn’t love was the octopus ceviche tostado. It wasn’t bad but paled in comparison to the rest of the meal. Beans, carne asada burrito, shrimp quesadilla and all of the salsas were top notch. Always one of go to stops when in SB. Too bad the cute little bottle shop inside the market closed. They had a nice selection of both beers and wine.

They have opened up another restaurant in town plus about to open another spot in Montecito and a Carpinteria restaurant probably in 2024. Also in the SB Public Market is the excellent Thai restaurant Empty Bowl, another one of our favorite spots in town.

Sorry to hear that the bottle shop closed. It’s been several years but I really enjoyed stopping in there for local wines.

Yes, they took out the separate room where they had all the wine and opened up the market. It’s become very busy and popular with TV’s showing sports 24/7. Still can get my Magerum Riviera Rose- a great local wine.
