Work commences for Culver Public Market

13,000 square feet of commercial space at Washington and Centinela

Six years after a false start in 2019, earth movers have returned, and construction has finally commenced for the Culver Public Market project.

Located on two corners of the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Centinela Avenue, plans call for roughly 13,000 square feet of restaurant space accompanied by parking for 145 vehicles. A leasing brochure indicates that Smog City Brewery and ChurrerĂa El Moro have already signed leases for the property.

KTGY is designing the complex, which will include a restored neon “Culver” sign, an antique Helms Bakery delivery van, an event stage, and a pop-up area.

The under-construction project is roughly half the size of what was originally envisioned for the site. Regency Centers, the project’s developer, had initially sought to include a larger market hall space within the development, but officially cut that component of the project in 2024.

The roughly $24-million development held true to the anticipated Winter 2025 groundbreaking date announced earlier this year. Completion is expected in late 2026, according to a leasing brochure.

Will be excited to have El Moro in the neighborhood.

Looks like 3 spaces left:
