Dallas reccs?

Hello,

Took a look through some of these posts, although some activity seems a bit outdated. Curious if anyone had any reccs on Dallas, will be in town for about 5 days for a wedding. First time really in there area.

We’ll be staying around the Plano // Carrolton area, but willing to go anywhere for a good bite.

I’ve got Cattleack on the list for BBQ and was recommended the following for other bites:

  • Torchy’s or Fuzzy’s for breakfast tacos
  • Keller’s Hamburgers
  • Babe’s Chicken House
  • Mi Cocina Tex-Mex

I know Carrollton has a good Korean culture and am very interested in that, but I’m also coming from LA so have access to a ton of wonderful Korean spots here, but I won’t pass up a good meal, although I don’t need any KBBQ, unless we’ve got some sort of Texas Americana inspired KBBQ hybrid spot?

Curious if there’s any regional cuisine in Dallas that is local etc to that area, maybe somewhere that specializes in wild game etc?

I love the low stuff as much as the high stuff, and seems that there is a robust bit of Michelin rated/recommended spots as well.

Curious what this group knows/thinks, thanks!

Mamani

Really delicious food. Nothing groundbreaking. It’s just all really tasty. Straightforward, pleasant, tasty. There aren’t that many Michelin starred restaurants like this. Most chefs are shooting for something more profound. This chef is like — I like French fries, I’m making French fries. One more plus: both times I’ve gone to Mamami I’ve been taken aback by the low price compared to similar restaurants in LA. It’s not cheap, but it’s a good value

For coffee, I highly recommend Wayward Coffee (Irving Blvd). It’s on par with the best coffee shops I’ve ever been to. Great pourover. Spacious, clean, attractive interior with great WiFi and outlets galore. Music included Radiohead and Cocteau Twins. They have veggie Tacodeli tacos, which I enjoy. Great, great place. Popular, deservedly!
