In last year LA Eater’s Essential Guide to the San Gabriel Valley, Dean Sin World got on that list in part because Ms. Lu was back in the kitchen.
Is she still there? I’m looking at Yelp, and there’s some bad recent reviews.
And, what dishes do you order besides their xia long bao?
Since I’ve eaten before at Mama Lu’s Dumplings, is Dean Sin World basically the same as Mama Lu’s Dumplings? Does one of those places do anything better than the other restaurant?
Only thing really worthwhile is a few radish crab pastries, and a bowl of wine brew to wash it down.
Better dumplings, XLB, beef rolls, beef noodle soup elsewhere. Heck, better off at Qing Dao across the street for pescetarian dumplings, or head to PP Pop, Mama’s Lu and Xi’An Tasty for dumplings, XLB and the like.

Lao Xi’er (by the way, if you are here, make sure to ask the owner how and why he proposed to his wife, it will fill you with much mirth and make what can be a rather pedestrian bowl of noodles seem rather quite special)
I’m surprised that Chengdu Taste or Szechuan Impression aren’t on your list when those two have been the most hyped, famous Chinese restaurant openings in the last few years. It seems like Jonathan Gold launched a thousand people to wait in line after his review of Chengdu Taste.
