Supposedly French, and the owner is French, but it was way too Americanized for me.
[/quote]I’m with you. That doesn’t look like a French omelette… and those potatoes look tasty, but for an American breakfast plate.
This is not for you westsiders so much, but if anyone can bare the hell that is parking, Joan’s on 3rd (Beverly-Grove) makes a perfect French omelette. Get the goat cheese & asparagus sprinkled w/chives. The potatoes are either perfect, thinly sliced & pan fried or a thin, crispy hash brown.
I like my chicken soup with a more savory base (matzo or chicken noodle style) and less acidity from zucchini & carrots. But that’s just me. This is a very good soup with a nice broth and tender chicken. Excuse the spoon in bowl (container) faux pas . I wanted to show the chix & vedge.
Turkey, leeks, red potatoes, stock, butter & a touch of cream (maybe whole milk?). Sometimes they make it with chicken.

This was so savory & creamy; I had to check the menu to make sure it was actually vegan. Man I wish I could get my beans that creamy & tender without them getting mushy.
$6.50 for a large (not super large) and plenty of bread & unsalted butter; I either toast it or not, depending on the soup. They always offer 2 soups: a meat, poultry or clam based soup and a vegetarian or vegan soup.
I discovered that soup tastes better than it photographs. I’m not a borscht expert, but this seemed a little tame. It’s a good soup, but lacks the tart (sour) flavor I believe borscht is supposed to have.
