Erika’s last night, was last night (Tuesday, March 12). The three desserts on the menu were
carrot bread pudding
meyer lemon pie
choc mayo cake
According to my server, the carrot bread pudding was the most recent addition to the dessert menu. I tried the meyer lemon pie and a bite of the choc mayo cake. It was a great dinner.
My party of two had the green salad, the carolina gold with mushrooms, cornbread, and the pork chop. My dining companion spoke with somm and got her recommended glass of red, the somm was lovely and poured me a taste of fermented oolong tea. Served cold and it was delightful and mild. A really nice non-alcohol choice.
All in all, a terrific night, and I was happy I was there.
FYI for those wanting to try it, they only make 20 burgers a night and it is only served at the bar. It is a solid burger, though the caramelized onion relish is a bit too sweet.
For the most part, the bar menu is a subset of the main dining room’s menu. As far as I know, the burger is the only thing on the bar menu that you can’t get in the main dining room. There are lots of things you can get in the main dining room that you can’t get at the bar.
Yes! This is one of my favorite restaurants to sit at the counter. One night Brian was working the ham in front of us. He kept throwing us little ham scraps and told us he was cooking it according to a 60/70s Home & Garden cookbook recipe.
Please note that the “bar” in question is the wine bar next door, not the counter at the restaurant. It seems obvious now revisiting this thread, but just in case there are other boneheads like myself…
Don’t do what I did and stand outside the main restaurant for 30 minutes waiting for it to open, oblivious to the rapidly growing line 20 feet away from me.
