Am I the only who finds it weird that @umamimami and @CuriousGeorge joined w/i the past hr to post or ask about the lawsuit?
fwiw, weird vibes at Epicurus now. Part of what I loved about the old staff was the mix of all of their knowledge and friendliness. So many conversations about how to use X ingredient, ideas of things to make, etc. idk, perhaps the new staff can get to that level, but I assume that passion has to cascade from the top.
I don’t know any actual details around the falling out, of course, but after chatting w/ new management, felt like Kevin is a bit out of touch. Lots of grandiose plans to expand after the viral posts, but seemed apparent he didn’t understand social media trends and that going viral isn’t necessarily permanent new business.
you have a fitting user name
we’re two people, but do know each other IRL. and no, we’re not Hillary, Eric, or any of the former staff…
Been searching for news about this all over the internet ever since we encountered the change, and just discovered this forum.
Thank you, I appreciate the response.
Welcome to FTC!!!
just came back from Epicurus, hadn’t been in a couple months but they were out of a lotta the stuff i go there for, they didn’t even have comte though they said it was in the back and just needed to be cut…
any updates? i really hope this isn’t the begining of a downhill slide although it definitely seems that way. epicurus was one of my favorite places in the world…
i don’t really know who was responsible for their merchandise curation but i always assumed it was hillary… and i’m guessing that without her there the ship will loose direction.
absolutely hate to hear this.
lets hope it’s just a managemeant transition blip rather than a huge change…
Seems like a story for Eater or the Times.
It’s been four months since Eric and Hillary were locked out. That’s a bit long for a blip.
They were giving out that same line about the cheese in the back needing to be cut way back in December.
It don’t look good.
i know, just trying to stay positive…
totally
and to top it off the emmentaler aop i just purchased was labelled by epicurus as 12 month but still has the 3 month mifroma label on it… i didn’t notice that in the store, i just saw their printed 12 month label and bought it like i’ve done a hundred times in the past. what a bummer.
Big yikes.
Not cool!
We are infrequent customers - mostly due to the long shlep from where we live, but were there recently looking for some excellent hazelnut oil we’d previously purchased there. They didn’t have it. We brought it to their attention while we were shopping and they were attentive and said they’d look into getting it back in stock. I can’t speak to whatever falling out occurred with the owners / principals and many on this board seem way more experienced with this place than I am, but I am familiar with small businesses and how challenging it can be to run them. I’ve found - however awkward it may be for some people to do - that real time feedback to the owner or manager onsite can be helpful. As for the poster who got the 3 month aged cheese instead of 12, that is unacceptable, and it should be brought to their attention.
First of all, we’d like to apologize for the mislabelling of the emmentaler cheese. This was an oversight and we appreciate it being brought to our attention, albeit on this forum. We have corrected this issue and we would like to rectify this mistake with a refund or credit. Moving forward, please alert us if you should ever have this kind of issue in the future via DM on Instagram, at Epicurus.com, or in person, and we will be more than happy to assist you.
We would also like to assure you the ship is embarking on a new course, not losing direction. It has been a learning curve for all of us here and we plan on leveling up in more ways than one. This transition is taking a bit longer than we’d hoped and we really appreciate your patience.
Regarding the hazelnut oil, give us a call next week. It should be in stock by then. Apologies for the wait. We appreciate your patience and your business.
The La Tourangelle hazelnut oil is in stock right now.
