Finally had to check one of these stores out. Some stuff seemed reasonably priced, other stuff was not, lol. Saw the same Harry’s Berries. Played dumb and asked about the price, guy said they were $20.99 and asked if my son and I wanted to try one. We did. They look beautiful but these are ok. Not much very aroma nor very sweet. I’d have been pissed if I bought them. Then he offered us some other berries, labeled as Tomatero at $6.99. Even more dark red, super fragrant and sweet. Honestly one of the best strawberries I’ve ever had. Would pay that much every time.
Buying produce at Erewhon is lighting money on fire. They do have decent prepared food though.
if you have ever spot Ichigo Farms’ haruhi strawberries (https://www.instagram.com/ichigofarms/)…buy immediately. Unlikely to be found at Erewhon, but maybe at a farmer’s market.
Yeah the prepared food is solid.
Haha. I had to swing by - was actually curious to see that liver shake or whatever that got some press recently. I found that some things were priced ok, but a lot of it was definitely crazy pricing.
Partner and I went once b/c we wanted to see the place that apparently make Whole Foods look cheap. And, yes, it was indeed… surreal. One of my neighbors would get DELIVERY from Erewhon (I think). Can’t imagine how much $$$ that must’ve been…
lol… one of my former coworkers used to pickup toilet paper and general household stuff at Erewhon just because she was already there for food. I can’t even imagine…
That’s not an insane amount for Harry’s Berries. That seems in line for places that sell them. Good Eggs sells them for $19.99. Never been inside one, but I’m looking at their online delivery items I’m thinking the overpricing talk is hype. The meat prices are outrageous but everything else is inline with the 3 dollar markups at Draegers or Piazza up here in San Mateo. And no one makes fun of us as they do Erewhon. Up here, that’s just normal.
Piazza is actually not that bad but yes, Draegers is way overpriced and only survives because rich people in San Mateo and Menlo Park don’t care that you can get the same stuff much cheaper anywhere else (including WholeFoods which is often not more expensive then Safeway). Recently went to Erewhon for the first time and that is a very different level of prices and pretentiousness compared to Draegers
Good Eggs is a delivery service. Noplace to be inside unless you’re an employee.
They’re talking about Erewhon.
Lol. At least with the Harry’s Berries, I wasn’t so much making fun of Erewhon, but rather the idea of $20 for a package of strawberries. I was secretly thrilled that I was able to get it out of my system when the stocker let me and my son try the berries for free. Uh, they were ok.
Like you, I actually saw a lot of items that were pretty reasonably priced, and then some things, like smoothies that were pretty hilariously priced.
