Fancy spot for a group (non-tasting?)

Anyone know of a good restaurant for a group of 6 for a special occasion, preferably fancy/elegant and not a tasting menu. No sushi/japanese.

Current contenders are Stella in WeHo and Osteria Mozza but the reviews on both of these seem all over the place.

Would love to hear more opinions!

Musso and Franks is always nice for a special occasion, It’s pretty specific in style. Since you mention Mozza perhaps Drago Centro downtown.

Yeah that’d be a good idea but I was just there like 2 weeks ago. Otherwise definitely fits the bill

Majordomo - is this fancy? Good for groups though.

If Gjelina is fancy enough it’s a fantastic place for a group since you can share just about every single thing on the menu.

Perhaps not really, really fancy but I could imaging the roof-top patio at Gjelina could be quite nice for such a group (and not as loud as inside where it could be hard to hear each other in a larger group) and the food at Gjelina is outstanding

Funke (especially the main floor dining room) > Felix for a fancy/elegant outing. Both more consistent than Stella IMO, and Stella you want to be in the downstairs dining room even though it is very loud.

Camphor fits the bill, too. Citrin has an a la carte menu and I think the vibe works for what you’re looking for, a la carte is $$$ though.

Mozza is a great choice in my opinion.
It’s calm, classy, and tasty.
Stella is too loud
Funke downstairs can be ok.
Gwen or Jar maybe…

Osteria Mozza (for most types)
Citrin (for Michelin snob types)
Gwen (for meat and potato types)
Array 36 (for Asian only types)
San Laurel (for the location, potentially)

Not that fancy but great for groups!

Love majordomo for a group - I think you can make it feel fancy and maybe request the back room?

Thank you all for the recs. I’m leaning towards Osteria Mozza for the group - individually we have hit a lot of the other places already (Gjelina, Majordomo, Gwen), and out of the others this feels like it’ll fit the bill the most.

Antico Nuovo
as well as many others mentioned above

Been there already. Antico Nuovo’s prices are upscale but I feel like it’s still pretty casual in terms of vibe and if I recall they play hip hop/rock?

Anyone who doesn’t like Osteria Mozza is an unreliable source.

Disagree.
It’s usually great, but not always.
I thought they went through a real dip in quality of preparation, a few years ago.
To be specific in Spring 2022, in particular, I had several really average meals there. Kept me away until recently. But last week I had a fantastic meal at OM.

Lots of places had problems during and soon after Covid times.
