I haven’t been in a while since I don’t wireless in the area but i used to love it for an after work cocktail and small plates

I just had some pretty good ones at Carnes Asadas Pancho Lopez. I tossed them into my carne en su jugo. That was delicious.

When it was around I really loved Malo’s chewy chips. Rest in power.

This might be a bit of a mission but here is my favorite combo.

Chips: Los Toros Meat Market - Rosemead or El Monte

The chips are made with corn, salt and lard. My favorite chips by far.

Salsa: salsa verde at Macho Pollo in Pomona

Made fresh and super chunky and flavorful.

Agree on the chips from Los Toros! Best to buy them the day you’ll be eating them. They only last a couple of days.

Just a brief off-topic: how do you like The Talpa? I walk by it all the time going to Don Antonio’s and have never tried it…

I’ve been going to The Talpa since I was little, and it’s my absolute favorite of all the places along Pico. The ground beef tacos are something I crave. It’s been run by the same family all these decades - started by a trio of sisters, now run by their kids. All family recipes, including the salsa.

Vallarta has so many different types of salsas. I think close to 10 different types with all spice levels. For a supermarket it is pretty impressive.
