Guess that makes you the big winner @PorkyBelly not Leo!

If by big winner you mean best supporting glutton, you are correct.

Gimmicky is such a weird word…do you really just mean to use it to say they try to attract attention/business? Or were you suggesting something else, less substantive about the place?

To me, the cocktails made with coffee there put to shame the majority of cocktail bars in the country outside of the very elite tier ones.

Sweet, I’m glad i showed up late this time around I was shocked they were sold out at 6:30 when I got there. Fortunately I’m such a fixture there they saved a pie for me.

But Zema Latin Vibes was down the street at the Alibi, so I went and bought the entire fucking arepas menu plus cheese sticks and brought it back to Lodge to make a bangin’ night out of it with everyone; you should’ve stuck around lol

I love everything you hate about the pizza, though the middle seemed perfect compared to the curst on my pie, so perhaps quality control was off earlier. I guess all the Oscar boycotters went there? It’s never been that packed before…truly odd.

It’s sort of confusing what is from where in your photos? Did you just get a huge flapjack at Superba? How was it? Moist? Dry? Looks like sourdough?

I like how your post makes it seem like American Tea Room in the Arts District, and Local in South Central are right next to each other lol Props for mad mobility

Was the obnoxious party in the corner gone by then? Maybe I should just go later.

You didn’t mind the huge length of the pea tendrils??? I thought the taste was good, but… it was too much work for me.

I also found the music a wee bit loud…

Cheko El Rey Del Sarandeado

Great meet up with some FTC/former CH’s at Sergio Penuelas’s new joint in E. Long Beach

Pescado S(Z)arandeado (also had the amazing chicharron de pasdaco, ceviche del rey and aquachiles)

Certainly more the former than the latter. Agree that “gimmicky” is a bit of a loaded word. I tried to lessen its negativity by saying “an element of gimmick,” but I shoulda just thrown the whole dang word out. Semantics!

I think the themes are fun and lead to some interesting/really good drinks. My intention was to acknowledge that part of the experience is a menu full of “Wes Anderson” or “Harry Potter” themed drinks (which I could see some more cynical-types rolling an eye or two or three at). Theorem is always high on my recommendations list. I think it’s really great, and I’ve never had anything like it. I’ll have to look into the “elite tier one” coffee cocktail bars that you mentioned.

Vive la Chateaubriand!

I dunno; it seems fairly close to me - just go a bit south and then west. However, I drove my husband kind of batty yesterday by crisscrossing all over the South Bay. Good thing I like to drive! :red_car::tea:

All that meat looks marvelous… ::sigh::

My mistake with poor wording, I was saying Theorem is so good at making cocktails without alcohol that they are better even than most regular cocktails bars (places that use alcohol), except for like the most elite ones like Death & Co., Walker Inn, etc…

In terms of coffee cocktail bars, Theorem is unrivaled as far as I know.

Rats! I was hoping there was a whole world of coffee cocktail bars that I wasn’t aware of. But yes, totally agree.

A dream I also share haha
