I ate at this place once pre-Covid but I guess neglected to post about it.
Got delivery last night.
Pad thai did not hold up great, all stuck together, spicier than I expected (traditionally it’s bland and you add to taste). Hit the spot anyway.
Fried Brussels sprouts didn’t taste very Thai except for being quite spicy.
Kao mun gai, chicken was fine, rice could have used more chicken fat, didn’t like the broth. Hawking Bird’s is better.
Crispy rice salad was unpleasantly sour, not all that crisp, and overly spicy (not too hot for me, just seemed unbalanced). Champa Garden’s is way better.
The chicken was the only dish that wasn’t too spicy for my wife.
I forgot our disappointing experience in 2023 and ordered again last night. Much better this time.
Roti with dipping sauce was very good.
Crispy rice salad was great. Much closer to Champa’s version.
Pad Thai, noodles still clumped together but it was delicious.
“Wholesome noodle” again clumped together but was very good soup noodles.
Grilled oyster mushroom (king trumpet, I think), “blisted” market green (Chinese broccoli), and ajad cucumber pickles were nice foils for the other stuff.
Nothing was too spicy though the crispy rice was on the edge for my wife. Overall a really good meal, makes me want to go eat in house again so we can enjoy the noodles at their best.
