From lunch in Arbois a couple of weeks ago, here’s an extreme example of the French concept of “salad”:
It was an open-faced sandwich with a huge portion of melted cheese and ham with a little side salad. I’d seen one on another table so I knew what I was getting, but when you want an actual salad, good luck.
