Hy’s Steakhouse, an old school steakhouse that has locations in Calgary and Toronto, as well, was founded in Winnipeg.

Hy’s son started The Keg, Canada’s largest good quality midrange steakhouse chain. The idea behind the Keg was to offer a Hy’s type steak experience at a mid-range price.
