This is the restaurant that took over our beloved Aburiya Raku spot on La Cienega. Looks like they’re quietly serving up some high end kaiseki meals but haven’t seen any reports here. Kevineats did a full report for anyone curious.
Side note but when did Raku perish? Is the Vegas spot still open?
I believe Raku closed last yr during the summer.
Always felt like a weird location. Sad that it’s gone though.
They also have a sister restaurant, Toridokoro Raku in Vegas. I haven’t tried it though.
I’ve been avoiding it mostly because of COVID but I’ll try to make it out there next time I hit up Vegas.
Warrior: Peony and I went to the Vegas location a few months ago. It was super-crowded despite the fact that COVID vaccinations were just getting underway. They lost our reservation and we had to wait for a table. I remember being in a pissy mood that they don’t use OpenTable or Resy, which is their prerogative, but then they lost our reservation and we had no way of knowing. We got whatever omakase they had. I didn’t like it very much, but I am snobby about Japanese food. Peony has pictures and can supplement later perhaps.
So I take it nobody’s been to Gozen.
