This is a bucket list for me because I’ve seen so many of you rave about it! Now I really need to experience this. Any tips and tricks? It doesn’t matter which date. I’ve tried asking Amex concierge but I doubt they’d be very helpful. I’ve even tried to put myself on their waitlist. I’m bad (and unlucky) with securing reservations luck of the draw so any advice would be great!

Sit in front of Tock the moment that they’re released — I’m talking the very moment of release, down to the millisecond. They will all get snatched immediately. But you might get one then. If not, wait 10 mins for anybody who failed to complete their reservation within the required time — that will re-release a handful of reservations. You might get one of those. If you don’t get one then, keep waiting for every 10 minute cycle. To be sure, the number of re-releases will dwindle with each cycle. And at a certain point, the booking screen will close and say that everything is booked. At that time, you’ll have to get on the waitlist. Book as many waitlists as you can. As I understand it, Chef Brandon handles the bookings as well (at least when it comes to the waitlist) and he might see and appreciate your continued efforts to get a table.

put yourself on the waiting list for as many days as possible, every month. familiarity with your name and persistence will increase your chances.

have you been successful reserving 2 seats?? also, how many times/attempts have you tried before you were able to get a reservation. Is it like a year? are chances slim? also, what are the success rates for wait list?
I’ve got picked off the waitlist twice (I had to turn down one because of a work emergency). I think it took me about 2-3 months / cycles of trying – trying for the res right at 10am, and then immediately booking as many waitlist spots as I could. It’s not impossible. Just keep trying. (I myself am trying to go back soon and am doing this process all over again.)

Booking a reservation for 1 is much easier. I went solo in June 2023 by being on Tock at 10 am. I tried for 19 months to get a reservation for 2 and finally got one for this month. It just takes a lot of perseverance. I think it all comes down to luck though. I think everyone was hungover on January 1st so I got lucky and got a reservation. I checked after I paid on tock, and there were still available reservations. Usually they are gone in less than a minute.
