Still a ton to try here, but some of the highlights for me: porchetta, carrot salad, sexy pig in a blanket, pumpkin bread, pepperoni pizza schmear, flan

flan was soooo good.
Also really liked the biscuit in the breakfast plate and the mango donut.
Crossaint was a lowlight, but the rest of the baked goods rocked

Can’t wait to try the lunch stuff! The espresso crueler was fantastic, the texture of the doughnut itself and the espresso flavor really pops. Personally I really liked the Chocolate croissant -great crisp, flaky texture. Didn’t taste like French butter but I wasn’t expecting it.
Loved seeing a print Saveur mag in the wild, nice stuff for building a charcuterie platter at home including the Fiscalini craft beer cheddar!
Sang Yoon really hit it out of the park with the design. Pretty impressive debut

Baked goods and esp the donuts were the highlights for me. Found it kind of odd that you need to wait in two separate pastry lines depending on which ones you want or if you also want to get coffee.
Would like to go back and try a patty melt. They also get points from me for abolishing the tip screen when you pay with credit card.
Can easily see this place being mobbed at lunch time.

It was absolutely slammed at 1p today and Sergio was in the building. The lines were way too long to wait in so I didn’t try anything.

If anyone there, it’d be Sang Yoon. Just for giggles, I was gonna ask him where the ketchup was sold.

The blue sign is a trip, at first glance I thought I was looking at the Hellers sign in DC.
Surfas stocks Central Milling flours, among other goodies, if you don’t care to wait in line.

recalling that time i got a cake at heller’s c. 2013 and the mold-to-icing ratio was about 40/60.
I’m looking for Baker’s Craft Plus, and Epicurus apparently carries it, too.
But still looking forward to a trip to Helms Bakery.
GROSS!!!

Insane lines, and not operating in the same quality universe at Gjusta. Not worth it.

At base, this is the only kind of food criticism that actually matters: this restaurant is trying to do XYZ. Would I recommend it to someone looking for XYZ? And even if I would recommend it, is there a place that I would recommend more?
I think a lot of the sweets and non crossaint pastries were better than gjusta and much cheaper. Crossaints ain’t close, tho. Bread on the same level!
The lines will die down

Popped in yesterday to have a look. Went before close at 1:30pm so was not too crowded with shoppers though influenzer types were thick on the ground. Pastry selection seemed pretty picked over by that point. Deli not operating. Sergio in the building pressing flesh.
Enjoyed the hot dog croissant. Well-composed and good with some hot mustard. The outlandish peach cream puff caught my eye but proved more a delight for the eye than the palate.
Takeout chicken is held in fancy re-usable takeout containers under a heat lamp. Thick buttermilk crust, not my usual style but exceptionally tasty, traveled well and good value relatively speaking. Italian and mortadella sandwiches looked tasty if a little small.
Standard selection of ‘gourmet food’ items scattered liberally around the store for the expected markup, along with nostalgia items like pop rocks and combos. Does seem to fall a little short in the pastry dept. but I have hopes for the deli section and expanded hours. Would be great if they were open Tues at the same time as the Culver City FM.
Will definitely be back for more chicken and I’ll probably snag one of those doughnuts too.
