The restaurant unnamed in most news accounts of the underground vault explosion in Beverly Grove was Northern Cafe. Strangely I noticed utility worktrucks parked in front of Northern Cafe when I drove by the location a couple of hours before the explosion, as I noted that they took what could have been my parking spot if I had opted to stop by.
So . . . downhill alert?
(I kid . . . and yes I checked to see that no one was seriously injured.)
That’s bad fengshui.
I’m not sure if I should like this post or not.

Too soon?

Let’s just hope insurance was paid and all employees are able to make ends meet while they rebuild.
On the contrary … this place is blowing up!
I salute you!
The dumplings are a flavor explosion in your mouth!
Location is perfect for a bang bang!
Maybe Joan’s Short Rib sammy?
Bang Bang — Boom!
A snippet from Stephen Chow’s excellent film, “God of Cookery” (at 1:35 in particular)…
Sing Chi’s best movie. I haven’t seen that since VHS

The rest of FTC: hold my craft beer
While they’re recovering, it will be a loss for Cedars employees.
That place bout to blow up. But seriously, theyhave already re-opened, I ate there yesterday
This is totally irrelevant but to me it seems so odd:
When I was at the Northern Cafe in Westwood - a day after the event on 7/8 - the staff had not heard at all of the explosion at the Beverly Northern Cafe.
