Interior also has much more demo (I think) than in previous months…

that space was sitting empty for a while

Bumping the thread… 6 months later. Any news?

Last time I went by it looked like there was still a ways to go. granted it has been a couple weeks but they haven’t been as quick as I would have expected given It was a restaurant space with a large kitchen

We’re approaching two years since the initial news. This has become ridiculous. There were job postings back in the spring. I see a newer one from 8/24.

It was a longshot, but I went to the original location in Fukuoka a few months back and asked if anyone knew anything. Nope.

When I went by a few months ago, tilework had been completed.

When I went by last weekend, the shades were completed. Not sure what that means… Maybe a full reveal coming soon? (since they didn’t bother to close the curtains when there wasn’t much going on)

Initiate deathwatch protocol? lol

Why would they know anything? It’s being operated by the Panda Express Group, most Japanese companies when expanding to the US franchise out to operators here just like Tsujita or Hannosuke.

Also there’s so much good ramen in Fukuoka I wouldn’t have wasted a trip to go to Ippudo.

Nah, I actually really do think the dropped blinds are a good sign. Good ramen would be welcomed in that area, but I can’t imagine how much the markup for rent might be…

I knew it was a longshot, but what’s the hurt in asking? And I wanted to visit the original location and take it all in. It had no effect on my enjoyment at the other popular Hakata/Nagahama ramen-yas I went to. When all was said and done, my body made it clear that I ate TOO MUCH ramen in Fukuoka.

who’s opening on Fairfax? tsujita? I guess i’m asking how many premium ramen places can we absorb. doesn’t matter just an interesting thought to me… hopefully replaces the average places in the market.

So agree. The yatai fare there is just mindblowing.

I’d seek out a premium non-Tonkotsu place.

Really? Someone told me yatai stalls were nothing special, just more for the atmosphere and from what I could tell they were tourist traps.

Much agreed. I’m sick of seeing tonkotsu ramen joints. I really can’t wait for Tsuta to open in Glendale and I hope its close to the level of their Tokyo location.

A. Men.

Yatai legend: IchiRyu. Look for the queue. Run by Fukuoka-based Chinese expat hubby/wife. Best treatment if you speaks the Chinese. Handpulled (or so they say) noodles in a devastating broth, with pre-handover HK-noodle cart mentality… Effing grand.
