Italian Sub

I have some really good tomatoes and some bread. Thinking of making a delicious Italian sub, I don’t like boar’s head. I also just need a few slices of different meats. Where should I go?

They are an importer and mostly sell to restaurants but they have a small showroom where their office is off of Olympic (just before the 10/Lincoln freeway exit) that is open to the public. It might look like you are in the wrong place and you might have to search a bit for the right door but they really do have a lot of stuff

You could also try the Truffle Brother’s shop ‘Spaccio Salumeria’ which is closer to Surfas in Mid City

If you’re near Anaheim, Cortina’s has a good selection of salami, mortadella, coppa and Proscuitto that are mostly imported and not Boars Head. The salami is usually from Buon Gusto or Molinari. We like the imported mortadella with pistachio. They cut and package the sliced meats beautifully.

Monte Carlo Deli in Burbank. They carry a wide variety of domestic and imported Italian cold cuts. The prices are reasonable and the service is incredible.

I am having a sandwich with their cold cuts right now :joy:

I ended up getting some pretty good mortadella, coppa and Proscuitto from Veroni at Pavillions. It was pretty good. Will try some of the recommendations when I am in those areas. Thanks again.

That’s looks really good. What is that Burrata?

Thanks!

It’s prosciutto, hot soppressata and fresh mozzarella w/ basil, evoo and fresh cracked pepper on sourdough ciabatta.

I got just about everything from Monte Carlo Deli. They sell everything by the pound. I tend to get out of there for under 20 dollars and have enough to make sandwiches for a few days.

Olive oil is Oro Bailen from Costco. The bread is from my buddy Kandel Bread who is making my favorite ciabatta in LA these days.

the bigger ones you can get some excellent sandwich-sized shavings out of, and once it’s too small I cube it up and crisp it for pasta sauces
