We have liked Impasto in San Carlos in our last view visits and so it was only a matter of time until we also visited their original sister restaurant iTalico https://www.italicorestaurant.com in Palo Alto. The food turned out also similarly very good with the frittelle always a highlight and the gnocchi and trofie with octopus excellent - only the paccheri were a bit lackluster with quite dry and stringy meat. Service wasn’t bad but felt much more rushed than at Impasto and didn’t really allowed to relax.
Frittelle - fried pizza dough, stracciatella di burrata, prosciutto di parma rovagnati 24 months
Tuna tartare - ahi tuna, lemon, spicy avocado, crostini bread
Brussels sprouts - lightly fried, grana padano
Gnocchi - homemade potato spinach gnocchi, butter, italian pancetta truffle cream sauce
Trofie - homemade fresh pesto, octopus, oven roasted potatoes, grana padano
Paccheri - braised rib eye, carrot, celery, onion, tomato, grana padano
Torta al pistachio - pan di sapgna, pistachio and ricotta mousse, fresh strawberries
Semifreddo al tartufo - truffle chocolate, hazelnut, zabaione
