I was in the neighborhood so finally made it there today. If we are talking price to quality ratio only, I would actually say it is the single best restaurant I have been to in Los Angeles. I couldn’t believe how much better and less expensive it was than similar quick serve restaurants or places like Goop (to which I occasionally resort just to get some vegetables). The food had personality and didn’t taste homogenized like Goop or Erewhon Cafe. I don’t know if there are plans to expand, but boy would it be nice to have one in Century City. And I liked that the spicy side sauce was genuinely spicy.
I liked it so much yesterday that I ordered delivery today. Unfortunately the chicken did not stand up to delivery – all dried out and virtually inedible. They need to R&D that. The cold cabbage of course stood up to delivery and I really like that dish. Wish I could buy it by the jar.
I hope they get venture capital and open a million locations. I don’t get the people on the Internet who wrote that this is just Panda Express. This is not Panda Express homogenized food.
So much easier now that the parking in back is dedicated to Jade Rabbit. Went today at 1 and it was a breeze. I always get the same thing: Chow Mein with Broccoli Beef. It’s considered a children’s bowl, and perfect for my lunch - with leftovers, too.
I’ve had it a few times and it is a good version. I just wish they would give you three tortillas instead of two.
I need to go back but I agree with this sentiment that QPR wise Jade Rabbit is great. I spoke with chef a while ago and he said the quality/cost of ingredient far exceeds what makes sense, but he just has to serve good stuff. I think there’s room for Jade Rabbit to become the next Goop/Panda Express!
In which case I hope Jade Rabbit does not become the next Goop/Panda. No investment firm would allow that to continue. Ingredient cost/quality would be first at the chopping block if Jade Rabbit took institutional money with eyes on significant expansion.
100%. A private equity buyout + mass expansion is never going to produce positive outcomes for the consumer. I’m fine if Jade Rabbit opens a second location in Hollywood or wherever but would be concerned if Yum Brands or Blackrock takes over and announces tons of new openings nation-wide.
Did you try it?
