Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival, whatever that is, is a “partner,” whatever that is.
Right. And I question that decision.
Food Network = Warner Bros. Discovery, so whaddya expect?
More of people. I should stop. It’s not a useful endeavor.
Damn, even KF Seetoh knows about Adel’s Famous cart. This line is wild.

For all NYC pizza fans Kenji from Serious Eats has a good set of recent IG posts and videos where he visits a lot of pizza places in Manhattan and Brooklyn. It sounds like his favorites were L’Industriale, Funzis and Scarrs. 11 slice shops is one day is pretty epic.
Did you get to eat any good pizza this trip?
Are the pizzerias you grew up on in Queens still around?
Unfortunately haven’t had time to travel to Queens and Brooklyn to get the good stuff. In Midtown Upside Pizza and NY Pizza Supreme are better than anything in the OC.
Most of the old school spots in Queens are still around.
Lucia in Flushing
VI Pizza on Bell Blvd for Sicilian (Dave went there and gave them 7.6)
Gloria Pizza moved to Forest Hills
Fresh Meadows for the best chicken rolls
Gino’s on Springfield Blvd for broccoli slices
I’d take any of these within 10-15 mins of my house. I’d gain a bunch of lbs but it would be worth it.
Okay anyone tried Funzi’s Pizzeria and Chrissy’s Pizza?
Chrissy’s is still impossible to get but they are opening brick and mortar soon.
I’m going to NYC this weekend. Land at 2:30. Have reservations at Razza at 9:15. Staying on the upper east side. My goal is to grab a slice at new Scarrs and Funzis before dinner.
Aww nice I heard good things about Razza in JC.
What slices are you going to get at Scarrs and Funzi’s? The chicory at Funzi’s sounds interesting and the burrata looks good too.
How do you feel about these new school NYC slices in contrast to the neighborhood spots in Queens growing up?
UES? Any plans for Pastrami Queen, 2nd Ave Deli, or JG Melon? Or cross the park to Zabar’s, Mamas Too Pizza, Barney’s Greengrass, Absolute Bagels? Hopefully the leaves have turned in Central Park! Fall is the best season in NYC imo!
I’m boring will probably just get pepperoni at Scarrs and the tomato slice or pep at Funzis. Although this looks really good. Not sure if they have by slice.
I’m good with all the new school places with fancy ingredients as long as it tastes good and you can still get some simple slices like a pepperoni. One place I did not care for was the spinach dip slice at artichoke basille. That slice was heavy and thick. All for the gram.
Hopefully have some time to grab a bagel and lunch on Saturday. I’m there for a very quick trip. Only in the city for like 34 hours for a bar mitzvah. I’m right by Ess A Bagel so most likely my bagel fix. Lunch will have to play by ear. The party is at Chelsea Piers so might have a snack on the way.
I assume you are a minimalist too with bagels?
Some shops basically take a deli menu and instead of a roll/hero replace it with bagels. Little much for me.
I like everything with scallion cream cheese. Even better whatever just came out with plain cream cheese.
Good NYC slice should stand on its plain and/or pep!
The cooks behind Funzi’s are from Scarrs and L’industrie so I am sure it’s a quality slice.
The squares at Scarr’s are good. But good luck with the line. It was crazy when I went last month.
What’s with this line? Is it only sit down at the new Scarrs? I was just gonna swing by and grab a slice.
You can sit down or grab a slice still. I’ve never sat so not sure how the line works for that. Sometimes the line is not an issue, but the place has blown up on Tik Tok, so at peak times (I happened to go 6:00pm on a Friday) the line is like 20-30 people deep.
I used to regularly walk thru that area and there was always a line. You are talking at least anywhere from 10-30 minutes total to grab a slice. It’s a destination pizza for a lot of people.
Maybe you can go before the dinner rush and it will not be so bad.
