We were driving down Wilshire and saw the new signage going up. I loved the space at Estate so hopefully this spot is good.

He’s from Sinaloa, and one of his other restaurants focuses on “Culiacan” cuisine. I’m def not well-versed in the cuisines of Mexico. Is this diff from what Sergio cooks?
Paging @Dommy, in case she knows.
I thought Sergio was doing was doing Nayarit style?of course they are right next door to Sinaloa so it’s going to be similar anyway
Based on my own experience at his Sinaloan Sushi place, I don’t think it’s replicating a cuisine, more like taking inspiration from some flavors and unique preps. Even Marsicos Chente has Shrimp Culichi, which is a very unique sauce named for Culiacan. I’m not too excited about this opening… it seems like he wants to upscale his business, which more power to him… but i would not expect Broken Spanish…
That does familiar. Like I said, not super knowledgable about Mexican cuisine. A brief internet search does indicate that the 2 have overlapping dishes.
The place has opened. I hate to be judge-y, but, based on the people waiting at the valet, don’t think it’s really my kind of place…
But the gold burger is only $90 here versus $300 at Nusr-Et!
Gonna be interesting to see how it does, it definitely looks properly Beverly Hills style glitzy, but it’s not exactly a glitzy part of town. I think it’s across the street from a Target.
I mean no stretch of Wilshire in Santa Monica is “glitzy” but it’s just 6 blocks from Melisse, Rustic Canyon, Belcampo, and Santa Monica Seafood.
I don’t know what kind of marketing team this place has, but there was a such huge crowd of people outside last night that all I could think was “super-spreader event.”
BTW, Jonah’s down the street is open, as well. We’ll see if it is an exception to the exceptionally bad feng shui of the physical location…
