Whoa, didn’t realize you could use it twice. But like you say, what maniac isn’t using all of it right away haha.
Unless something changed the fastpass can only be used once.
What happens if you spend less than $50? My friend told me he spent ~$40 initially then was able to use the fast pass again and put the remainder on a credit card.
The gift card and fastpass are separate items, you can use one without the other. If you have money left on the gift card you can just use it on another visit.
Each gift card comes with a HOWLIN’ FASTPASS™, good for ONE SCHEDULED PREORDER (MAX OF 4 GUESTS PER ORDER) with no wait!
Howlin’ Ray’s line at 1:00 p.m. today was only 45 minutes. (Which is the same amount of time we waited in line at Great White for their Fried Chicken Sandwich on the Westside and it wasn’t anywhere near as good.)
They have also taken to given folks line updates on Twitter, every hour on the hour, which is nice to know:
Latest update from Howlin’ Ray’s to switch over to Takeout Only and other efforts during this coronavirus situation:
HOWLIN’ FAMILY, we know that many of you have health & safety concerns and are wondering if we will remain open or modify our service during this time. We are assessing the situation as it develops & are considering all available options. We are hoping to stay open as long as it’s safely possible, not only to serve our guests, but for the sake of stability for our crew.
We are following all local & WHO guidelines as they’re released and consulting w/ experts in our field & beyond on the best plan/practices moving forward. As of now, we are still working to finalize a long term/large scale solution, however we will begin immediately to temporarily modify our service structure by switching to take away (extremely limited or temporarily suspended dine in options) only and to temporarily suspend cash (if cash is currently your only available resource we will set up a special accommodation for u, but pls try to limit cash/coin transactions as much as possible temporarily) transactions, we’ll still accept all forms of credit/debit cards, HOWLIN gift cards and Apple Pay etc. We will post more details on this tomorrow, inc when & how these modifications will go into effect. We will still be open our regular days and hours.
We ask that guests maintain a safe distance from each other of approx 3 ft while waiting in line & not to come out if they’re not feeling well or have symptoms of illness. we have sanitation stations on the way that will arrive early next week as well.
As the situation progresses, we will make further adjustments accordingly & will keep everyone informed as soon we know more. We know this is a difficult & uncertain time for all, but we are going do everything we can to responsibly continue to serve and to be there for anyone who is in need of assistance. We love u thank u for your continued support, we will get thru this together. feel free to text me at any time if you have additional questions, concerns, ideas, information or need further assistance (for emergencies, pls call 911) from us & I’ll get back to u as quickly as possible. thank you, @thehowlincrew

Update (To-Go):
As our intrepid FTC’ers have found out, Howlin’ Ray’s legendary Fried Chicken is back for Delivery Only, after a month long hiatus as they tried to figure out how to sell their popular Fried Chicken without causing massive crowds and problems with social distancing.
They are available exclusively on Postmates only.
However, there is a way to ensure the freshest Howlin’ Ray’s Fried Chicken possible, even with Delivery:
A huge thanks to @CiaoBob for finding us “employment” at Far East Plaza,
we were able to get our Fried Chicken within 14 minutes of ordering. And about ~4 minutes from the Postmates driver picking up the food and delivering to our “work”. (It would’ve been even faster if our driver didn’t get lost - They literally couldn’t find our “office” in the very same plaza.)
Hearing from @tailbacku @moonboy403 @chewchow confirmed our worst fears: How many customers during this pandemic trying out Howlin’ Ray’s via Postmates delivery will get soggy / steamed Fried Chicken (because it sat in the car for delivery), and get a mediocre experience?
So the @CiaoBob Employment Method™ will help you get your Fried Chicken fresher and faster than ever. (Note: Basically choose an easy to find storefront nearby and choose that as your delivery location “Deliver to my location” - You can even add a note to clarify where your new “job” is at and where you’re waiting.)
Fried Chicken Wings, Level 2 “Mild” Style (“Brush of Heat”):
Piping hot, only 4 minutes from kitchen to eating. Crispy, crunchy perfect batter, there’s a beautiful mild heat that’s nuanced (not just one-note heat that’s found at many places around L.A.). Excellent!
The Sando (Boneless Breast, Slaw, Comeback Sauce, Pickles, Butter Bun), Level 2 “Mild” Style (“Brush of Heat”):
Almost as good as eating it in Howlin’ Ray’s! I think the ~4 minutes or so still affected it very slightly, but taking a bite, the All-Natural Fried Chicken Breast patty in the center was moist, juicy, crunchy and crispy and the Level 2 Mild Style was a great match. Mix in the crisped Slaw, Comeback Sauce and the Buns were soft and held up, and it was delicious!
The best Fried Chicken Sandwich in L.A., even with a 4 minute delivery time tacked on! (@PorkyBelly @TheCookie @J_L @Gr8pimpin @A5KOBE @paranoidgarliclover and others.)
Collard Greens:
Still some of the best Collard Greens in L.A.! Not overly salty, long-stewed, tender, vegetal, nice Tomato backnote and a real savoriness.
Fried Chicken Wings, (NEW) Level 1 “Country” Style (“No Heat”):
The one keen loss of going with Postmates is being stuck with Howlin’ Ray’s NEW Level 1 “Country” Spice level. This is the new version of No Spice where Chef Zone and team have added in Black Pepper and more Salt because of complaints by Yelpers (UGH). Apparently they have no taste buds and complained that Level 1 Country didn’t have enough flavor and Chef Zone tried to appease the complainers.
The New Level 1 “Country” is just not as compelling as their OG version (which you can still order, if they were open - you just ask for “OG Level 1 Country”). But on Postmates there’s no order notes per dish, so you’re stuck with the New Level 1. There’s too much Black Pepper and the added Salt just muddies the taste as well.
Besides that, the actual crispy-crunchy crust is still there, great texture and moist, juicy Fried Chicken Wings underneath. It’s seriously still better than the alternatives around town, but nowhere near as good as their “OG Level 1 Country.”
Howlin’ Ray’s is back (in a limited way), and it’s great to get a bite of their Fried Chicken Sando and Fried Chicken Wings, while waiting a fraction of the time you normally would. We waited 15 minutes total which is unheard of.
The one downside is that there is only a Limited Menu, and you lose out on Howlin’ Ray’s greatest strength: Their Bone-In Fried Chicken is not available right now, and neither is their absolutely delicious “OG Level 1 Country” spice level. Nor do you get a dose of happiness and hospitality from Chef Johnny Ray Zone and the Howlin’ Crew. It’s a big loss, but I’m glad they’ve managed to find a way to get some business in these hard times.
Here’s to hoping we can chill with them again in person one day, enjoying their amazing Fried Chicken and laughing and smiling with the staff.
Tues - Sun
11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Postmates Only (for now)

How many workers can @CiaoBob ‘s office handle at a time?
Hi @Gr8pimpin,
At our branch of @CiaoBob’s office we were the only people there. And for everyone, just choose a spot that you can socially distance safely and are not interrupting anyone else. Our “branch” was one of the closed storefronts so we weren’t bothering anyone.
Hey, I have a Downtown office! hmmm…
I should have driven to Chinatown and had this for dinner tonight. Was @CiaoBob’s office within walking distance of HR? Was it in Far East Plaza?
I thought it was just my imagination but yes way too much black pepper now!!!
Hi @attran99,
There are many branches of @CiaoBob Inc. We were at the branch near Hill Street. Strangely it said “Ten Ren Tea” for some reason. I’ll have to ask @CiaoBob about updating the signage.
When they reopen, make sure you just ask for it “OG Country Style” and you’ll get it the way it’s meant to be eaten.
@CiaoBob’s office is also Pearl River Deli… because he’s “there enough to qualify“ as an employee.
Funny report @Chowseeker1999.
This is definitely turning into a Seinfeld episode.
You have a sharp palate. I noticed the salt and pepper in the Country Wings too, but more like a passing hmmm… pepper. It does change the flavor profile but I didn’t mind it too much. But the high salt Level? Yeah.
I’m not going to read the Yelp reviews. It would make my face hot like they’re talking about a family member.
Hi @TheCookie,
Yah, when Chef Zone told us that was the reason he changed Level 1 Country Style (because of Yelpers complaining), that was upsetting and sad. The Level 1 Country was already perfect as is, and it showed how Chef Zone was trying to make all his customers happy, but this was not a good change.
I am the most ANTI FOMO person I know… but with a Brother just on the otherside of Chinatown and me loving wings SO Much… Yeah…

I’m still chained to my desk…so the earliest I could possibly work it out with Bro was to put in an order at 3p on Friday… And when I logged in… They were not taking any orders. I just about cried, but continued to get some work done while refreshing the screen every 10 minutes… at 3:40 I was IN!!! Since Bro is LITERALLY a freeway exit away, it came within a short time of them texting they were taking off.
Everything was nice and hot. We took @TheCookie’s cue and ordered the sandwich sans cole slaw and just bought coleslaw on the side!
We ordered extra everything… The pickles were as good as ever. This was the first time I had tried the Macaroni Salad and I enjoyed it a ton. I also ordered an extra Collard Greens… going to make Mac n Cheese soon to mix it in to…
It was not a cheap order… but honestly the most fun I’ve had in weeks! We’ve been Stay at Home for over 9 weeks now due to our jobs. We’ve only eaten out five other times the entire time. This was a worthy #6…
Us too. It was a fun diversion excursion!
Hi @Dommy,
Great to hear you got a chance to try Howlin’ Ray’s To-Go during Stay At Home with the delivery service.
I missed @TheCookie’s suggestion about Slaw on the side! (Thanks @TheCookie!) Is there a place where you can choose to leave the Slaw on the side? Thanks.
