Leopardo - Hancock Park

Are you me? lol

Why Are you ingredient girl?

My thought as well. A room of 100 guests all wanting two to three changes done by hand means more bodies on the floor

I also wonder if Skenes just has simpler dining expectations. Like the joke about cooks eating most of their meals out of delis hunched in a corner.

They don’t see it as extra work but a part of eating

That it was another alt of yours did cross my mind.

I hear you on this and am super excited to go to Leopardo. But this is technique more than simple ingredient quality.

I also don’t like farm-raised fish. I don’t understand why restaurants brag about such and such farms fish. It’s always bland.

We are the only two posters who have said anything positive about Yess.

Ingredient girl, at your service

I like yess. It’s not fully formed and weird at times but he does get good stuff. I prefer the cleanliness compared to a bunch of crap at other restaurants with more distractions from the actual products.

When I tried this with my server at Motherwolf, he threw a fit. I asked him to get me another server, who promptly had similar ā€œindignationā€. I had to course it out myself by only ordering one dish at a time.

How long ago was that? I was there last month.

A month after it opened. Haven’t been back since.

Reading that you have to handle your own silverware and plates actually is a dealbreaker for me, so you are not alone. I’m fine w/ silverware can at a Japanese cafe, but I still have never had to grab my own plate, even in that setting.

Sorry, that kind of ā€œserviceā€ seems like BS to me.

When we went, the plates and silverware were at the table and you can grab them when you need them. They did proactively refresh our plates part way through the meal too. The experience of dining out is, of course, highly subjective as evidenced by the discussion here and may not be to your taste at this price point.

Just to clarify — we had a stack of four plates on the table, and we each grabbed one. Maybe that’s a dealbreaker for you. I didn’t find it so terrible. I just mentioned it to signal how casual the service is.

I think you can still have great service and hospitality even if some plates are stacked on your table.

Yeah. Has anyone actually had bad service here because of the cutlery and plates at the table?

(Other than dishes coming as they were made)

I’m going to go Tuesday at open (5:30) if 1-2 ppl wanna join.

Went last night and had a great time. I laughed with our waitress about the ā€œbringing everything out at onceā€ situation and she ended up telling the kitchen to go slow on the pizzas so the experience actually ended up feeling coursed out. Food was great, although you’re not getting much for the price. But that’s just dining in LA in 2024. Pizzas were definitely the highlight, especially the re-marinara.

What does ā€œre-marinaraā€ mean? Am I missing a pun?

No I still had warm and attentive service and like I mentioned nice to have plates nearby when I want a freshie.
