Nice. Never had these.
Condiments for the bo ssam that got dropped early. Nothing sneaky or surprising.
Nice to see the oxtail again. That’s my favorite of the salsa seca variations.
Sugar snap peas, Benton ham, crispy rice, and bo ssam are my plays…
lil gem salad is pretty fire. Sat at the bar and ate it on Friday after dropping off some caviar.
Is that Astrea trout roe on the salad and with the poached egg bing?
We don’t do trout roe - just sturgeon caviar. They use our caviar on the aged butter dish! Schrenckii to be specific. Might sell better if it said “Cave Aged Butter & Astrea Caviar” ![]()
Another great meal at MJD. Our favs were the great mixed drinks, bings, oysters and pork belly crispy rice. The music was on kinda loud on the outside porch but still at a reasonable decibel.
I got the Pimms cup with Harry’s Berries. My wife loved the spicy margarita.
Is there a better bite than butter honey and Benton’s ham on a piece of bing? I’d be lying if I said my son didn’t eat some bing with butter and the tajin off the side of my wife’s margarita.
Oysters expertly shucked. Sweet, briny, cold and perfect with the kimchee consommé. My son drank the rest of the consommé.
Loved the sweet sugar snap peas contrasted with the spicy horseradish.
Pork belly crispy rice was the favorite of the different versions we’ve had. Better than both the mushroom and skate. The smoky pork belly with the peas was a nice combo.
Only dish that was kinda eh were the potatoes. I mistakenly thought these were the small butter potatoes with salsa seca which are much better.
Macaroni with hozon and black pepper. So delicious. Al dente with that creamy coated peppery sauce.
Bass with the herby spicy sauce. Very well cooked. Herbs added a nice bit of freshness. The mint was powerful in the best way.
I love your son’s spicy tangy palate. ![]()
Sounds like a nice evening out!
Did the chowpups have any interesting tasting notes?
The last time we ate outside at MJD we were seated near the plants towards the back of the restaurant. My son picked off a mint leaf and ate it.
My daughter said the Bing wasn’t as good this time around maybe a little too salty. She may have been hangry.
My son says the oysters at Republique or MJD are the best based on how cold the oysters were, the briny flavor and excellent shucking. We’ve been to a few places where we’ve had shell pieces and now he is a true oyster expert.
Great dinner last night.
Ordered the crowd favorites. Highlights were the bings and crispy rice with pork. This is a must get dish. They also had the mushroom version on the menu.
Bossam was a bit dry. Probably least favorite dish of the night.
got ftc-influenced
@js76wisco’s son-fluenced
these are indeed perfectly shucked, never had a bad oyster here.
raw sugar snap peas, horseradish, lemon, radish
@js76wisco fluenced. crispy, light and refreshing.
spicy fusilli with pork jowl and kimchi
@rlw fluenced. agree with @rlw the pasta may have been a bit firm but the flavors were great. pork jowl was crispy and i was surprised there was no tomato in the sauce, just gochujang, kimchi, and jowl fat. delicious.
grilled striped bass filet, jalapeno, herbs, lime
@js76wisco fluenced. i think i slightly prefer the version with domojang but this was still solid. eat with rice.
Damn that pasta looks good. I’d be there when the doors open tonight if I were in LA.
Looks like a lovely meal. No bings?
oh that looks really good and shocking that there is no tomato in that sauce
and you never will - chang talked about why in his momofuku cookbook.
Per the Venetian concierge, as of yesterday, the Las Vegas Majordomo location is permanently closed.
damn, that didn’t take long. You would think that it would do well in Vegas
Too hip for the room?
