Majordomo - Chinatown

I mean all that’s left is really noodle bar and majordomo now, huh?

I hope majordomo makes it. But momofuku at large feels like it’s just gonna transition to CPG.

Momofuku Vegas is doing gang busters.

their food just isn’t good enough (anymore?) to warrant a second trip given the prices. I have my doubts it’ll last

DC lives in L.A. now, I believe, so perhaps that may keep Majordomo around a bit longer…

I mean, good for him! Carbone-ificiation, no?

Not really? It’s like all the other momofuku restaurants that used to be around. To me, the menu is a bit more interesting than majordomo.

You didn’t like it in the first place. Nobody who appreciates the place has suggested that the food has gone downhill.

You can look at reviews from folks online and see most recently don’t find it up to what they hoped. Similar experience for me.

People can appreciate it but it appears based on the LA Times rankings the quality has gone down since it opened.

No, if you read Addison’s blurb, he was just whining that they’re not doing adventurous new shit. No hint of any slippage in quality.

This isn’t accurate. Ssam bar closed, bang bar in NY is hardly ever actually open. I forgot vegas, oops.

So since there is no slippage in quality according to you, there has always been general criticism that the food is too expensive and overhyped? Because from reviews I’ve read that seems to be a common theme.

Not on this board. If you get your opinions elsewhere, why not parrot them back elsewhere as well?

It’s not too expensive, it’s just expensive (for people that like to actually eat).

But for a celebratory restaurant with cocktails/wine/beer Majordomo nails it every time.

I don’t think thats what he was saying at all? I…have gone to majordomo 2-3 times with no booze and had a great time. Sure it’s not cheap but I wouldn’t say I spend more than other restaurants in LA of that calibur.

I WILL say I think majordomo is a hard restaurant to nail with a party of 2. I prefer going with 5+ at the table.

I did not love my during pandemic meal there but it was right after they reopened for in person dining during the pandemic. Haven’t been since so can’t say whether they returned to pre pandemic form.

I’m saying that I need wine/cocktails/beer when I celebrate and Majordomo is an excellent player in that area - as opposed to say Anajak, which also has a great lively environment (and equally high bills), but only has wine.

It sounds like majordomo doesn’t check any of
the boxes for you so just don’t go and save your money.

i’ve gone to majordomo a trillion times (who is counting?) - I haven’t noticed any slippage. I do think it needs to change up their menu more.
