Majordomo - Chinatown

I liked the cod flesh for its phenomenal flaky, moist texture (perfect done-ness), but can also understand why many who are used to the Canto style of steamed fish would say it tasted muddy (I think the broth fell a tad flat in complexity).

Did you enjoy those two hours? :stuck_out_tongue:

This. We kept saying how much better steamed fish is at almost any Chinese seafood place in the area.

Bing w/ricotta jam chili crunch was the best bite of the night. Good enough that I ordered a second one for myself at the end (don’t overdo it like I did because sometimes too much of a good thing really is too much).

Question though: is Majordomo not doing well? I was wondering this when they first announced HH. I absolutely hate seeing restaurants close and then with their Ssam Bar closing soon, ughh… can’t help but think that they’ve been struggling. It is a huge space after all.

They needed this event to remind people they are still around. But I feel they also need a menu shakeup a bit.

If they did this type of event once a quarter with a hot up and coming area chef I think it would definitely help remind people that majordomo is still around

I don’t know how they do on weeknights, but they were cram-jammed all night on Saturday when we went. Along with a big private party. Saw a lot of the beef ribs going out too, many to two tops :open_mouth:

I wanted to go over and say hi but yours was a large table and I’m really not good at inserting myself like that . I was at the table next to Tessa Thompson. Wonderfully bustling that night and I hope the place can maintain some semblance of that again. It was like when it first opened years ago.

Precisely this! Lolll… glad I’m not the only one.

I’ve no doubt you are but you were also with Eric Wareheim(?) and a bunch of other folks… It was the party table of the night and I could foresee everyone staring me down haha. Eeps.

There’s a handful of cool people on this board I’ve always wanted to meet (starting from the Chowhound era) but I have yet to meet one. You’re the closest I’ve gotten loll. Baby steps.

In my experience, everyone is extraordinarily kind and gracious. No one will bite.

With Ko closing in NYC it really feels like we’re not going to have Majordomo for much longer are we?

Not that Momofuku’s necessarily doing well, but I don’t see a logical connection between the two. Ko is in New York, opened 15 years ago, and the group plans to do something different with the space.
