Agree - Chef Kang is killin’ it with that burger. Dang I might just hit that later today.

OT - but that couldn’t be further from the truth. That would be the same as saying all red wines taste pretty much the same

Yeah, that’s just silly talk.

I had the Galbi burger today, adding the stir fried kimchi for a dollar more, and thought it was great. I liked the waffle fries but was indifferent to the egg salad and would likely skip the combo next time and just order the fries as a side.

Is it a burger patty or strips of galbi? The menu says patties, but the photos on Yelp appear to show strips.

Not a true patty.

my apologies! was only having some fun and poking fun as lately i’ve heard through the grapevine from folks that all smashburgers and IPAs taste the same . anyways, i don’t think that IPA’s all taste the same, i enjoy the different varieties, hops, yeasts that create the subtle differences.
i’d say to say all red wine taste the same i would say is even more silly, as there is more natural complexity in different factors such as the grape, location, vintage, climate, altitude, and the whole terroir that adds to the never-ending kaleidoscopic bursts of flavor in wine.

Interesting, per this reddit thread “BTC by Chef Kang” on Washington Pl and Centinela : r/FoodLosAngeles… Chef Kang is on the bad list

Please don’t support this guy. He keeps leaving all his suppliers high and dry, constantly changing names to toss aside his bad debt.

This guy is in hiding. A lot of Korean media has covered this already. He owed a lot of people a lot of money.

Has anyone been to La Vecindad Tortas a la Plancha? Their torta de milanesa is excellent - I had to go back again to have another. I’m a big fan of their bread here - the cheese is delicately added right below the bread where you still experience that toasty bread crunch and then the bread melts in your mouth with the cheese as one with the rest of the sandwich, wowza
Top notch torta - kinda have to have one when the food item is in the name of the store!

There are a lot of mediocre tortas here in West LA! I’ll have to check it out

Apparently Craig Hopson has opened a new Cali-French bistro, Electric Bleu, in the old Rustic Kitchen on Centinela just South of Palms. Anyone tried it yet or have a POV on the chef. Very local for me.

I’ve had it on my radar but haven’t tried it yet. He was the opening Chef at BBCM in WeHo when it was good, his food has personality and has been EC other places around town as well. I think this is his first place as the owner as well. My expectation is that it will be good place for locals somewhat in the vein of Rafael Lunetta’s place Lunetta (All Day)

Oh, that’s not too far from us at all!

Thanks for the info, @mvjpl and @aaqjr.

Chef Hopson was at Le Cirque back in the day. Glad to see him cheffing in LA!

Just went tonight: A terrific neo-bistro concept, with solid execution by an experienced chef with legit French cred. The cooking is dialed-in. Though the place was slammed, the energy was really pleasant, and that bathroom is just wild. My photos forthcoming…

Toto in the house???

Partner and I saw on Google that the place might be open for Sunday lunch, but, alas, it was not this past weekend.

Looking forward to trying dinner there in the near future.
