Spring is right around the corner!

Riverside is about to get it’s own Go Go Bird and a bunch of other new restaurants…
Close enough to LA to justify a post
Great first trip to Fitoor
Standouts were the branzino and actually the sweet chili broccoli but all good. Huge well appointed space, nice service.
A 50+ minute wait for a bagel?! H&H was a mob scene on Montana this morning! Lucky for me, two separate NYC friends dissuaded me from joining the fracas…
While across town, Boichik really impressed me…
Former food truck South Philly Experience now has a brick-and-mortar location on Pico (Mid-City)!
Hoagie was solid. Now if I could just get them to carry Tasty Kakes…
Anchovy broth, lots of clams, and mandu! Huge bite! Hangari Kalguksu (Ktown) satisfies the itch for handmade noodles…
South Philly Experience is a gem. Their roast pork with broccoli rabe sandwich is great.
Night and Market Song. Khao Soi Jay. Vegan! Wow this hit so hard! Instead of chicken or beef we got squash, mushrooms, and I think tofu larb patties. Broth just as good as your Thai Town favs. Putting this dish amongst the top vegan dishes in LA.
Dayglow. Incredible selection of pour overs! Perhaps the largest selection in LA/So Cal. Most shops on average have about 3 different choices. I think pretty much all of the bags they sell to the left when you enter are offered as a pour over. Anywhere from $6 to $15.
The former All Day Baby space is going to be Heavy Handed
Baker’s Bench. Choices slim because I came in the afternoon but enjoyed this brownie. I love this place.
Joe’s Falafel. Was at A Good Used Book in Echo Park and it was only a 10 minute drive on the 101. I promise myself I would go here if I was at Universal. Well that never came lol. So I’ll just make the quick drive up the hill.
$1.45 upgrade for the fresh hot laffa was a no brainer and a must order! Not a bad idea to order an extra hummus or garlic sauce to use up that laffa. Really liked the falafel too! Not quite up there with Ammatoli in LBC or Kareem’s in Littel Arabia but damn good for a casual spot.
Haven’t been to Universal in years! Need to see this Harry Potter world sometime. I know where I’ll be eating!
Amphai Northern Thai. Rice soup with squid. I’m surprised by how much I enjoyed this, seasoned with some prik nam pla and jalapeño vinegar. Craveworthy even.
Cora’s is the one that’s right next to Capo right? Never actually been to either
Both Capo and Cora’s are super solid. My favorite bougie huevos rancheros in SoCal.
Yes, that’s it. Not inexpensive but nice patio and very solid food. Chez Jay is another not well known spot for breakfast /brunch with a nice patio against the park
Kurrypinch in Thai Town could be really solid. Very excited to try. I thought 2018 era Kurrypinch was arguably better than Apey Kade and Baja Subs.
Plus they’re serving booze, which might be a first amongst the LA Lankan spots.
Sushi Sonagi. Daniel is putting out some amazing food. Sourcing is impeccable. Favorite bites
Bafan uni Hokkaido
Scarlett shrimp from Spain cooked for 20 secs.
Black abalone with liver sauce Korea. Should have licked up all the sauce.
Saba sando. Damn this was good.
Hairy crab rice with neorungji. Whatever he is Korean. We know what it is.
Seared flounder fin. What even is this? So good.
Best nodoguro I’ve ever had
Doggie’s Deli opened up a few months ago on W 3rd off Fairfax. Great little spot. I grabbed some treats before flying out to see my parents and their dog
duck neck jerky
Chaumont Vegan.
Took advantage of the traffic-free Sunday morning drive on the 405. Plus free parking Sundays.
Absolutely love almond croissants!
Layla Bagels.
Why not I am parked right across the street. Pretty cool that there is a newsstand! You don’t see those anymore. Not a bad few blocks for breakfast.
Recent meals at Carlos jr & Rustic Canyon artichoke was a highlight as was off menu Ferrari shot with strawberry infused campari
Took my awhile to figure out that this must be some kind of alcoholic drink, rather than, say, a picture of a car!
