Marlowe - SF (SoMa)

First visit to Marlowe https://www.marlowesf.com/ when looking for a solo dinner spot with cocktails at the bar in SoMa. Well known for their burger but was more in the mood for the pork cheeks which didn’t disappoint. Nice, relaxed ambience sitting at the bar with good cocktails.

Warm deviled egg, aged provolone, pickled jalapeño, bacon

Blue crab crepe, frisee salad, creme fraiche, dill, chili crunch

Braised pork cheeks, crispy cheese & potato croquette, grilled broccolini, garlic-chili & pork jus

Another visit to Marlowe https://www.marlowesf.com/ in SoMa on a very short notice with the daughter. First time having the “famous” Marlowe burger and it definitely competes as one of the best restaurant burgers in the city - the horseradish aioli is quite unique and adds a touch too much horseradish flavor to it. We wished they would change their menu a bit more frequently as it seems to be always the same dishes.

Warm deviled eggs, aged provolone, pickled jalapeno, bacon

Fritto misto, tempura fried haricot verts, cauliflower, swiss chard, shallots with spicy remoulade

DiStefano burrata, butter beans, broccoli rabe, black olive, red wine vinaigrette

Marlowe burger, caramelized onions, cheddar, bacon, horseradish aioli, fries

Sauteed sea scallops, meyer lemon & parmesan risotto, grilled asparagus, fava beans

Maria’s bread pudding, banana, raisin, vanilla bean ice cream, bourbon caramel

Unexpected quick trip to Marlowe https://www.marlowesf.com/ as the other planned restaurant doesn’t take reservation and didn’t have any tables. Good dinner but still would like them to change the menu a bit more as it is quite stagnant (especially the entrees)

Pink pearl apples & roasted grapes, wild arugula, manchego cheese, sherry vinaigrette

Warm deviled egg, aged provolone, pickled jalapeno & bacon

Fried green tomatoes, basil, feta & roasted red pepper-calabrian chili dip

Crispy brussels sprouts chips, lemon, sea salt

Marlowe burger, caramelized onions, cheddar, bacon, horseradish aioli & fries

Braised pork cheeks, crispy cheese & potato croquette, grilled broccolini, garlic chili & pork jus

Loretta’s vacherin, coffee ice cream, creme anglaise, almonds & chocolate sauce

Had to “kill some time” in SF this night and decided spontaneously on dinner at Marlowe https://www.marlowesf.com . As always a good and reliable restaurant with well executed dishes but I wish they would change up their menu much more often, especially the entrees. Many dishes have only seen small changes, e.g. sides, over the last years but for us that makes it more of a restaurant perhaps to visit once a year instead of much more regularly.

Warm deviled egg, aged provolone, pickled jalapeno, bacon

Chopped salad, chicories, pink pearl apples, pomegranate, black olives, burrata

Marlowe burger, caramelized onions, cheddar, bacon, horseradish aioli, fries

Strawberry-rhubarb bread pudding, vanilla bean ice cream, whiskey caramel
