Asking for my wife who’s meeting several friends for a birthday lunch. Lighter fare would be most appropriate. The birthday lady is coming from Santa Clarita and the rest from OC. TIA
i’m not a fan of old town myself. if it doesn’t have to be old town you could consider lincoln in altadena or millie’s cafe on washington. there’s also a thread titled pasadena updates.
If atmosphere is a priority, then you could consider Nick’s or Granville, both on South Lake.
Nick’s is not adventurous, but the execution is good and service is excellent.
I haven’t tried Granville, but it looks like a happy place. More trendy, rooftop dining/bar etc.
Sorry folks. I’m now told that the location is changed to the Americana mall in Glendale. maybe a mod can help me change the post title.
Khinkali House, Glendale.
Raffi’s Place, The Tsujita
I’m confused. Are you asking about Americana in Glendale or Old Town Pasadena?
bruh.
Tsujita or Din Tai Fung if specifically within the Americana is important. Raffi’s or Porto’s or Damon’s if the general area is ok. Mario’s or Mini Kabob if atmosphere doesn’t matter. Havlabar got a review in the LA Times this week and sounds cool too.
Bacari GDL at the Americana is a lot better than it needs to be and will fit the bill for you perfect.
Just tried this place and it was so so average.
A rating of average for a mall place from an FTCer is pretty good!
Ha I guess that’s one way to look at it. I just don’t think I would recommend it to anyone. DTF would be my choice if eating at Americana.
I say Skaf or La Cubana
The parking is difficult and Mini Kabob’s dining area is small too. Good if you’re 2 to 4 people’ bad if you’re a bigger party than 4.
It would be my choice too if I was on an expense account budget. I can easily drop $80 for 2.
I second Skaf’s. The food is great and the owners are super nice.
Road report:
They went to Bacari and thought it was amazing!!! Thanks for all the input.
