I’ve been watching Samurai Gourmet and Solitary Gourmet, a couple of Japanese food-porn shows, and wanted to go to one of those homey, old-school places they always feature. Norikonoko is the closest thing I know of around here.
Salmon onigiri was made fresh with warm rice, very nice.
The goma ae was a bit sweet for my taste but otherwise first-rate.
Mackerel in miso with burdock special, $24. Everything was fresh and very nice.
Around 7:00 pm on a Saturday the place was almost empty, while 20 or more people were standing around waiting for tables at Kiraku a few doors down. Makes no sense to me.
