Tried to go last night. Kitchen had a malfunction of some sort, and I had to reschedule. #FirstNightBlues

Dude how do you know all the spots lol?

Gonna be in the Mt. Washington area for a holiday cocktail party this weekend. What’s nearby where we can hit dinner with a full bar beforehand? Herman’s is a no go…no reservations available at 5.

Barra Santos, Capri Club

Sams place? Dont remember if they have liquor or not.

Also Colombo’s.

Sams Place is mostly wine. The food menu is really limited fyi. Such a nice spot.

Mt Washington is a cool hillside neighborhood. Not much food in comparison to nearby Highland Park. A craftsman home in NELA is my dream home!

Amiga Amore is another option with cocktails/wine

Oh there’s also Checker Hall, next to Lodge Room. I went once and I thought it was good, though that was a while ago. Also full bar.

Does Hippo have full bar?

An aside: Last visit there was probably last visit. After three times I still thought for price pasta was just okay

Thanks, all!

Looking for a full bar so Barra Santos and Dunsmoor are probably out. Also…when did the Dunsmoor cornbread hit $21 for an order and the main entree of Pennsylvania Dutch Slippery Dumplings is the most affordable starting at $53? The trout and pork chop are $65 and $67, respectively. That’s wild.

Sam’s and Capri Club’s menus seem pretty short.

Winner might be Checker Hall, HIPPO or Amiga Amore.

Hahaha, have you watched the movie Good Fortune? Aziz Ansari has a great scene along that theme filmed at Dunsmoor.

Delco Rose Hoagies.

Just got word that Josh is going to be moving into Chinatown/DTLA at the old Wax Paper. Now you can add them to the list of sandwiches in the area…New Orleans po boys, LA French dips, Nashville hot chicken, banh mi’s, and now Philly hoagies.

Thanks to your great advice, that’s exactly what we did. Rolled in at opening for seats at the bar. We didn’t have a whole lot of time before our event, but the drinks and snacks were fabulous.

I love the cozy feel of the restaurant. Martinis are not usually my thing, but the one here is quite good. As solid as Musso & Frank. And I quite adore the little ones so you can taste vodka and gin before grabbing a regular one. I don’t know how they do it, but the bar here is very reasonably priced with most options at about the $15-16 range. Though I feel like I’m at the point where here I’m happy to stay under $20 for a solid cocktail.

We had time for the garlic bread (good), chopped chicories (great), citrus salad (great), and the burger with fried (great).

I wish I had a place like this in my neighborhood.

Has anybody been to the villa’s fish taco spot?

It’s probably better than the other 2 atm based on the pictures.

Everything is basically fine diced now to the point it’s indistinguishable from other ingredients. I don’t think the protein is cooked over fire at least from what I saw during the weekday. The hibiscus onions are still fire lol

The seafood tacos looks so much better imo
