Top 10 coming tomorrow. I’ve been to four of 11-100, five if you count going to Una Pizza Napoletana when it was in SF, six if I went to Barney Greengrass 40 years ago (not sure). Never heard of most of them. Interesting assortment, about as far from Michelin as you can get.
Ive been to 45 out of 90 apparently, but heard of much more. I can probably guess some of the ones in the top 10, based on the fact their sister restaurant is listed, but the main is not (Tacos Ramirez) or obvious exclusions (Yoshino, which NYT prefers over Sho, Atomix, Joo Ok perhaps, Cote perhaps, Yamada perhaps)

@robert Maybe worth a move to the NYC subfora?
I’d rank Zimmi’s over Smithereens, Ha’s, and Superiority, so wouldn’t be wildly surprised to see them in the top 10.
Haven’t been to Zimmis, but superiority isn’t as good after they moved years ago.
There are a bunch of heavy hitting fine dining or buzzy places missing, notably Torrisi, Corner Store, Flower Shop and Don Angie. Although I’m happy with Lilia and Via Carota as representative of that genre. 4 Charles also isn’t there. Someone’s marketing dept will be mad

i like that this top 100 list highlights some true gems in the outer boroughs.. more variety and cuisine than usual.

If you’re in New York and seek out food, most if not all are familiar.
They force a distribution every year, by price point (roughly 20-60-20 high-mid-low), cuisine, and borough.
It’s not terribly interesting, and several of their cuisine selections are disappointingly low-hanging fruit without imagination or exploration. Perhaps the list is now for the “broader” readership and not the NYC readers.
Case in point: Temple Canteen, just gimmicky, not good. Plenty of better choices, including on the same block.
I bet $1 all the unapologetic foods spots will show up on the list (Adda, Semma will be in the top 10), even though there’s plenty of better / equivalent Indian food.
Szechuan Mountain House representing Sichuan food at this point is a bad indicator. Very little reflection otherwise of the wide regional range of Chinese food available.
Ci Siamo shouldn’t be on this list, and there are plenty of other Italian spots of every persuasion that could have been.
