Last minute trip. Any reccs on restaurants, hotels or experiences would be much appreciated! TIA
We went around ten years ago so memory is a little hazy.
Went to origen and danzantes both good for nicer dining.
Go to the Mercados in town we went to Benito juarez and noviembre. The Mercado noviembre has all the grilled meats just choose a busy vendor and there’s some delicious tlyauada vendors just south of the market outside and a lot of really good street stand tacos/food. Use google and your nose and you will find lots of good local eats.
Went to a bunch of mezcal tasting rooms. But our favorite was this small local producer/tasting room in the north part of town mezcaleria Cuish .

We hired a taxi driver to take us to montealban/ carpet buying in teotitlan which was super fun
And we did a day on the oaxacan craft trail. We didn’t do a tour we hired another driver and told him to take us to the different craft markets and cities where they specialize in a particular craft in the outer cities and the Octolan market on Fridays which should not be missed. Octolan is probably one of my favorite markets in the world. It was really cool and there was so much good food.
have fun Oaxaca city is really an amazing place to visit!
