Open bottles of eau de vie / schnapps / obstler / grappa

I know various spirits are not at their best after they have been open a while.

I have an open bottle of Kirsch that must be 20 years old. With the changes in Canadian demographics, Kirsch isn’t even sold at the LCBO in southwestern Ontario right now.

Would you still use a couple ounces from an open bottle of 20 year bottle of Kirsch in a torte, or would you use another sprit?

I bought some Serbian plum brandy which was the only thing that was even close to a Kirsch at my local liquor store.

I also can’t find Poire Williams where I live. I can’t find any grappa, either. I can buy grappa in Toronto. I won’t be in Toronto until after the holidays.

If the kirsch is still aromatic I’d use it. We mostly use it in fondue.

okay, thank you!

Agreed. We keep one open bottle of kirsch for years, as it only gets used in fondue.
