Pasjoli - Santa Monica

Selfishly I hope he succeeds in the revamp I like his food, but definitely think the revamp of the room and tweaking of the menu are warranted.

Dang I liked the 95$ pre fixe model. I know both are tastings but one is 3x price lolol

Pressed duck now 350. Hoo boy

Not sure why they don’t take it off the menu. It doesn’t really match what they want to do with the remodel.

Was $165 in 2019 and I didn’t think it was worth it then at that price. It’s just not that special - I’ve had much better duck breast in LA. Is it cool to watch, sure.

Much rather the whole short rib at domo if I’m gonna do a large format dish for a big party

You read my mind…was going to put that exact same thought in my post but got lazy and didn’t

The sauce is the really special thing about the pressed duck. Glad I got it while it was more affordable.

it was of questionable value in 2019 at $165. Now its a joke. Salt bae of pressed duck.

It doesn’t really feel like they want people to buy it, seems like it’s there for regulars from Pasjoli 1.0 who want it and don’t mind paying for it. Their five course duck menu was $125 and added a canape and dessert to the 3 dishes that came with the standalone pressed duck. So this new version is already more than 2x that. Everything they’ve been saying suggests a more casual style of food and lower price point when they return.

Yeah doing one of that menu and one of the regular with a party of 2 was such a move. You’d come out 100 ish per person and try a ton of dishes

Exactly my feeling. They probably have some regulars with F-U money that are buying vintage burgs for whom the 365 is a smaller part of the bill. Honestly I’m excited to check out the new menu and could care less about the duck press

If I hadn’t already had it I’d do the duck for $350 for four people. It’s insanely good, something I’d read about many times, a culinary bucket list item, and at $87.50 a head not really that crazy considering what you pay at, say, Kato.

For those longing to try, MƩlisse has a duck press.

sad that a salad under $20 on the westside surprises me so much. hell, for anywhere in LA (I’m looking at you, Last Word Hospitality Group)

This plus Skenes opening a Raising Cane’s dupe is bumming me out.

No reason to be bummed out about a neighborhood restaurant. It’s what he said that it would become. I’m happy to have affordable well done bistro food in the area.

He did need to differentiate it from his other place.

It’s def great as a neighborhood restaurant but I’m not sure any consumers were ever going man pasjoli and Seline are TOO SIMILAR. Pasjoli was making interesting dishes that I went out of my way for and have no reason to go any longer
