Pizza in Toronto

A pizza diary!

I recently tried Nice Slice, a new pizzeria on Harbord on Borden, across the street from Emmer Bakery.

Nice Slice offers slices as well as whole pies.

I tried the vodka cheese slice and the zaatar slice. I liked the vodka slice. I loved the zaatar slice. it has a drizzle of tangy and not too sweet pomegranate molasses.

The crust is thin and has a nice amount of chew, and a bit more oil, in a good way, that reminded me of a good pan pizza, but with a more delicate crust.

Another Saturday night, another 2 slices to go.

Here are a pepperoni slice and cheese slice from Renaissance, a Detroit style pizzeria on Dundas West. The good news is that their version of Detroit style pizza is a little softer than the Descendant Pizza on Queen East, which is delicious but hurts the roof of my mouth with the hard edges on its crust.

The slices are limited to Cheese ($5 CAD) or Pepperoni. ($6). I’ll be back. 2 slices is the right amount for me so I’ve been leaning towards places that sell single slices.

I have not been tweaking the photos on my phone, apart from cropping them.

The Lemonhead slice from Mac’s Pizza on Dovercourt.

The Lemonhead is a white pizza with ricotta.

$6.22 CAD including tax and before tip. Very good.

2 slices from Pizzeria Fornace, on Bloor just west of Bathrust.

Very good, and lots of bang for the buck. Each ‘slice’ includes 2 halves, and run around $7. One order is probably enough for a light meal for some people. I always like to order 2 different slices.

I tried the mushroom slice and the cappriccioia.

(half of what I got for $14 CAD)

Nice family running it.

Frozen pasta and lasagna available, as well as tiramisu and ready made salads.
